Our Mission

 Scroll down to see a special message for 'Seekers and Skeptics"

We are committed to live out baptismal vows, which call us to "seek and serve Christ in all persons, to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, to strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human." (From The Book of Common Prayer.)

Thus, our mission in the world is:

* To be an inclusive and welcoming community, who offers hospitality and acceptance to all who seek to draw closer to God and to one's neighbor in love;

* To celebrate diversity as a gift from God, valuing and embracing all people regardless of age, race, gender, color, sexual orientation, appearance, ability, or socioeconimc status;

* To affirm wherever one is on one's spiritual journey (believer, skeptic, mystic, or seeker) and to offer support, guidance, and resources for inquiry and enlightenment;

* To offer vibrant ministry programs which strive to meet the educational, spiritual, liturgical, and pastoral needs of all members and age groups.

* To seek ways to minister to those outside of our church, particularly the sick, the poor, the homeless, the oppressed, and those in any kind of need or trouble;

* To be a community of faith whose mission and ministry are grounded in Word and Sacrament, prayer and worship, and whose identity is founded on the way of life, revealed by God in Jesus Christ.

For those seeking to draw closer to God and others....

In our world of many distractions....Where life's busy-ness overwhelms us....
Where chronic noise  drowns out God's voice.....
Where spaces  of sacred silence are difficult to find....
know that God hears you, sees you, and loves you.

If you are seeking  to draw closer to God and others in our 21st century world...
know the people  of Ascension are here to journey with you...
accepting you... where you are... for who you are....
There are no outcasts or strangers.... only friends old and new....

For those who are seekers and/or skeptics.....
All are welcome at Ascension.
If you are a seeker or a skeptic,  come and dialogue,
ask the hard questions,
and let us struggle through them together.

As the saying goes: "Jesus died to take away our sins -not our minds!"

One of the strengths of our faith community
is that we do not have to be the same, feel the same, or believe the same.
We strive to have all voices included from a variety of perspectives
so we can grow and learn together  and appreciate and celebrate our diversity.
 And so, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome.
