The Church of the Ascension is a growing, vibrant Episcopal parish of all ages and backgrounds. The parish is committed to Christian formation for all ages as well as ministries to serve the needs of the neighborhood and the world.
The Church of the Ascension is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, Region IV. The Diocese of Washington is part of the Episcopal Church in the USA, and of the Anglican Communion worldwide.

Meet our Spiritual leader, our Rector
The Rev. Dr. Joan Beilstein (B.A., M.Div., and D.Min.) is a cradle Episcopalian and a native Washingtonian. Joan has been Rector of Ascension since February, 2007. In the Diocese of Washington, she is President of the Standing Committee and Chair of the diocese's deputation to the National Church's General Convention 2009. She lives in Silver Spring with her partner Libbie and their animal companions. Her message to you: "Ascension is an inclusive and welcoming parish who respects the dignity of human being. Diversity is a gift from God we celebrate!
