Ascension is committed to assisting adults to grow in their faith and draw closer to God and others through Christian Education and formation.
Each Sunday at 9:15am between worship services, we gather in the parish hall for coffee hour and BIBLE STUDY.
During Advent, we offered an Advent Quiet Day" on the birth narratives of Jesus.
During Lent, we will be offering a 5-part Lenten series, each Wednesday night from 6:30pm-8:30pm, with Simple Supper. We will be studying all of the services that we experience during Holy Week and their theology (Palm Sunday, Tenebrae, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, The Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday.)
Also during Lent, we will be offering a Quiet Day, led by our seminarian Lisa Hoffman. Topic to be announced.
We also are offering for the first time ever, a "Women's Weekend Lenten Retreat". The retreat has no more spaces left - but this will be a yearly event and so please apply again!
During the summer of 2010, we will be offering a "Vacation Bible School" series for adults. More information on this program will be forthcoming.
Occasionally, there will be special Education Forums given, like the one above where our Rector is reporting back on the experience and actions of General Convention 2009.
In addition, we offer Inquirer's Classes during the year for those preparing for Baptism, Confirmation, Reception into the Episcopal Church, and Renewing one's Baptismal vows. Those interested in the above participate in a service held at the Washington National Cathedral by the Bishop, The Rt. Rev. John Bryson Chane.
